Disclaimer: The article you're about to read is fictional but based on actual events just this morning...

Convenient
kase unang-una, parehong Ortigas ang work namin, 2) parehong building,
and 3) parehong office... (malamang alam nyo nang nagpapahaba lang ako
ng entry... :D).

dok's brain: naalala ko nun... sa mga cartoons ng circa 1985 to 90, madalas 'to... ex:"Holy shimolly, batman... it's an abominable snowman!!"

dok's brain: uy, ibig sabihin di ako nag-iisa... note to self: you haven't lost me yet.

dok: ok...

to: dok
subject: Definition of abominable

1. unequivocally detestable; "abominable treatment of prisoners";
"detestable vices"; "execrable crimes"; "consequences odious to those
you govern"- Edmund Burke
2. atrocious: exceptionally bad or displeasing; "atrocious
taste"; "abominable workmanship"; "an awful voice"; "dreadful manners";
"a painful performance"; "terrible handwriting"; "an unspeakable odor
came sweeping
into the room"

And then, it dawned to me... grabe naman ang nag-coin nitong term for a
yeti... "abominable snowman": napaka heart-less... parang ang saklap
para sa side ng creature na to ang tawagin syang abominable... pwede
namang ugly
snowman - babanatan ka pa ng hifalluting term e sisiraan lang naman ung
nilalang... At saka, nakakita na ba talaga sila ng totoong yeti ng
face-to-face para i-claim na abominable ito? any proof? a photo? maybe
it's not so abominable to me or to someone else... maybe the insensitive
person who came up with the term just saw a hazy blur or caught it in a
really, really bad time (man, if you see someone in the crapper doing
his thing - concentrating, you'd definitely find that abominable).

So for the sake of being politically correct (although we already have
the word yeti) and (fine, fine) to further the senselessness of this
entry, i present to you my new term for (may this be
the last time we hear this) abominable snowman...

the misunderstood-dubiously-disfigured snowperson

hmmm, come to think of it... abominable is a good word for a tongue exercise...

repeat after me... abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable,
abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable,
abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable,
abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable, abominable,
abominable... (galing ko magpahaba ng entry, no? :D)

creature na Abominable Snowman... i guess, ever since na pullout ung
paulit ulit na series ni bugs bunny (the episode where he was taken to
the planet mars... "you mean the planet Mars?") noong mid-80's, bumaba din ang kamulatan ng maraming kabataan mula sa Abominable Snowman... aaaaa, sad :(

I believe this is Blue's official "first Christmas". This was the
first time she really appreciated the gifts and the joy behind it...
the glory of ripping off the wrappers.:D

Actually, 2 days before Christmas, nagugulat na lang ako when she
suddenly comes up to me, kiss me, and say "Merry Christmas, Papa"
(aaaah... *melt*) with her usual "bugoy" smile. She even got newspaper,
wrapped it with adhesive tape, and gave it to me. Regalo nya sa akin.
Sino ang hindi ma-totouch nun... Bata pa lang marunong na magtipid sa
regalo. :D On gatherings with family and friends, sya pa ang lalapit,
ki-kiss, and mag-memerry Xmas. Cute!

Christmas eve, she kept on taking the gifts under the tree and
asking "Who's this gift for?" When i say the gift is for someone else,
she'd say "Ok" and place the gift back under the tree. When i say "for
you..." she would light up but since its not yet time to open the gifts
and we're waiting for her Granny from church, she would say "let's wait
for Granny and Santa". Galing, ambilis ng panahon. Dati she'd sleep off
Christmas... now, we're too sleepy to keep up with her. Sobrang libang
sya.

I really love our pic taken nung Christmas eve. You could see Blue
really enjoying the whole celebration, on one pic, she was even
bear-hugging me and Chi for the family pic. Gigil! :D

Anyway, Happy Holidays!

Sometimes it's so damn difficult to get up and out from bed... It would be easier if we get up and just say, "it's a new day and i'm off to work *big smile*... i'm ready... i'm ready... i'm ready... i'm ready... i'm ready..." (- spongebob) Sana ganun na nga lang... i-minus mo lang ang hypothermia-inducing shower (gloria! pag may heater :D), confrontations with (retard)morning-rush drivers, people-pushers sa mrt, obnoxious officemates, and whatever coaccident i would come across(aksidenteng coincidence - masyadong negative pag accident, masyadong positive pag coincidence... dun tayo sa neutral :D), i might do the "i'm ready" routine. Which makes me think, how come, sometimes, we just find ourselves - home, no scratches, no bruises, no ax burried on our skull, ego still in tact, list of cuss words - untouched? Unconsciously, we made it through the day without having anything to bother us...

"What the hell is a deadma shield!?" you may find yourself saying (by the way, the term - i heard from a friend of m'wifey 8), who got it from his gay co-worker). It's nothing like what you see or hear from a sci-fi flick on tv... Its a disposition, which can be more effective if triggered by an action (see: above), to either drive back negative energy or just let it pass through without any effect whatsoever on you. Can be compared to a much smaller version "talk to the hand". Simply put, "paki ko?!"

So, sometimes talaga we just have to be focused. Its perfectly fine to be conscious, but not to the extent that you let it control you. (no matter how gay it sounds and looks... :D)

Deadma Shield!!!

Having been in the seminary for 4 years, i've seen and heard different homilies from various priests. Some could be very interesting, some sleep inducing, some could be very funny, and even some would leave you close to tears.

I guess that's how churches should encourage Sunday mass on their diocese... Give them thought provoking or inspiring homilies that their parishoners would always want to be back for more.

A very good friend of mine told me an anecdote narrated by a Filipino priest, now serving in the US...

Once I was eating at Mcdonald's. I was facing the glass wall, and so i saw this poor kid waving at me from outside, doing a rough sign language. Basically all i can understand from his hand gestures was "i can't talk, i can't hear... can i have your burger?"

I was moved by the condition of the kid. He looked thin beneath his clothes and could clearly use more than just my burger, so i also bought a kiddie meal... I told myself, at least he could have food that could last for the day and a toy which he could enjoy for at least a week. But before i could hand it to him, the security guard shooed him away. I was frustrated at the guard and quickly ran out the door to catch the kid. When i did, i smiled and gave him the kiddie meal... He then, slowly, took the bag and smiled back at me - That smile just became a "happy thought" that could last me a week, I told myself.

But something else happened, unexpectedly. As soon as he got the bag, he took off and ran all the way across the street... And then, he gave the bag of food to a legless man. The kid then turned around, smiled at me, and went on his way.

Now that smile could last me more than a lifetime.

I felt ashamed, and at the same time happy. Ashamed to realize how someone who seemed so deprived could be more able to impart such goodness to a needy stranger. Happy because i was fortunate enough to witness such manifestation of goodness, which in turn i coud share and, hopefully, touch another stranger's life.

Now that's a great sermon...
